As a public health nurse, you will be required to make policies that impact city and state residents. In public health, you can opt to work as a clinic nurse or for the Department of Health.

As a clinic nurse, you perform hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, deliver nursing care and advice to patient and their families about medical care, nutrition, preventive care, health and birth control.

If you want to work for the Department of Health, you will have the chance to work with health monitoring compliance, medical policy consultation and infectious disease control.

Nursing in Home Health Care:

A growing sector in the nursing field, home health care work for registered nurses involved geriatric nursing, patient visiting and community health.

Home health care has become a popular work option for RNs because of the high demand of nurses needed to work on the field. For some time now, insurance companies and hospitals have been struggling to lower the expenses of delivering medical care. They have discovered that providing and delivering nursing care at home is cost effective.

Also, studies showed that patients heal and recuperate faster when they are in their own home, surrounded by familiar things and people.
